Let me be upfront and admit I'm not much of a country music fan. Though, I do like Dierks Bentley a bit. But on the first listen or two, this hasn't done much for me. It's just Wish You Were Here with some twang. What do you think?
PS Wish You Were Here is the only song I've ever sung karaoke to. It was not a wise decision

In comparison, there's no way to measure his manhood. My masculinity was in question the whole interview. I've only been in this position a few times during an interview -- once when talking to Brock Lesnar of WWE / MMA fame.
I talked to famed Ice Road Trucker Hugh Rawland about the show, driving on the deadliest roads, the natives, his trade, and being a girly-man.

Pink Floyd Week continues on Jimmy Fallon. Last night, it was MGMT covering Lucifer Sam. This is from Pink Floyd's earlier, more psychadelic days and 1967's Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The peformance I'm most curious about is tonightwith Dierks Bentley doing Wish You Were Here.
Roger Waters joined Foo Fighters in last night's Pink Floyd week performance with In The Flesh? Really enjoyed this, even if it could've used more Dave Grohl. Keep in mind this is In the Flesh? not In The Flesh
It's not rocket science... well... yeah, I guess it is.
Rocket City Rednecks is a very interesting show in the fact that a group of friends -- all with impressive engineering and NASA credits -- engage in home-made projects with big intentions. Travis Taylor is the focus of the show, but it involves all of this family and friends, including his dad Charles Taylor.
We talked to Charles about how they show came about, the dangerous aspects, what his wife things, singing the theme song, and being shot into space.
Every once in a while we catch some background Lima Ohio refernece in the TV show Glee on Fox. Here's the ones we caught from the aired show on 9-20-11:
It's Pink Floyd week on Jimmy Fallon. I'm most looking forward to tonight's performace of In The Flesh with Foo Fighters and Roger Waters. Here's The Shins with Nick Mason doing Breathe. Enjoy!
As you may have heard, Metallica and Lou Reed have gotten together for a project they are calling Lulu, which will be out November 1. Give their first song, The View a listen and let me know what you think.
Alec Baldwin hosted Saturday's season debut of SNL, and I think top to bottom it was a very solid show. To me, every sketch worked. Especially the open, the local news bit, Who's On Top, and especially the Top Gun auditions. Enjoy!

R.E.M. announced yesterday that they're breaking up. The trio posted a statement on their website saying, "As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening."
Each member also gave individual statements about the split:
Michael Stipe: "We feel kind of like pioneers in this -- there's no disharmony here, no falling-outs, no lawyers squaring off. We've made this decision together, amicably and with each other's best interests at heart. The time just feels right."
Peter Buck: "One of the things that was always so great about being in R.E.M. was the fact that the records and the songs we wrote meant as much to our fans as they did to us. It was, and still is, important to us to do right by you. Being a part of your lives has been an unbelievable gift. Thank you."
Mike Mills: "I hope our fans realize this wasn't an easy decision, but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way."
R.E.M. admitted in recent years that they'd come close to splitting up before -- right after original drummer Bill Berry left in 1997 and after recording their 2004 album Around the Sun. Their last album, Collapse Into Now, came out in March and was followed with an announcement that they wouldn't tour behind it.
The last project R.E.M. has been working on is a compilation that's expected to feature two new tracks. There's no release date yet. --Steve Reynolds

Guns n' Roses have announced even more shows for their upcoming North American tour. They'll kick off the 30-date run on October 28th in Orlando, Florida and stay out through New Year's Eve. A bunch of new cities mentioned in yesterday's announcement -- without venues or dates -- include Houston; Omaha, Nebraska; Tulsa, Oklahoma; East Rutherford, New Jersey; Wilkes-Barre; Pennsylvania; Worcester, Massachusetts; Camden, New Jersey; Detroit; Cincinnati; Nashville; Indianapolis; and Denver. --Steve Reynolds
The London subway system has decided not to allow Metallica and Lou Reed to advertise their collaboration Lulu in their stations. It's not that they think the promo poster is too controversial -- it's because it looks too much like graffiti and they're concerned it could inspire riders to deface other posters.
The poster and album cover feature a limbless mannequin with album name written across it in what looks like blood. --Steve Reynolds ==========================

Carlos says he's "deeply honored" by the tribute.

Yesterday, Jimmy Page posted another rarity on his website -- an all-star version of "Layla" recorded on September 21st, 1983 at London's Royal Albert Hall. It was the second of a two-night stand there -- the first being the ARMS benefit for multiple sclerosis, and the second for the Prince's Trust. Both shows also featured Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Faces drummer Kenney Jones and others.
Before that second show, Page met Princess Diana. He says she told him that she'd "attended a Duran Duran concert at the Albert Hall, and I thought, 'Oh boy, are you in for a shock tonight!'" --Sal Cirrincione ==========================
Add another rock offspring to the list of musicians following in their parents' footsteps. Graham Whitford, son of Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, has just released an EP with his band, Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown. Brad says, "Some of you have seen Graham perform onstage with Aerosmith -- he's an amazing guitarist... I'm so proud of him."
Whitford says the new Aerosmith album is "going great -- I think you'll love it." And bassist Tom Hamilton adds that producer Jack Douglas is "taking all the bits and pieces we recorded all summer long and assembling it" so they can tack on the vocals and overdubs. They plan to release the album in the spring.
Other artists whose children have followed their musical paths include Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Pete Townshend, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Stephen Stills, David Crosby, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Taylor, Phil Collins, Sting, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, John Bonham, Tom Johnston, Joe Walsh, Eddie Money and Paul Rodgers. --Sal Cirrincione ==========================
The Queen-sanctioned competition to put together an official tribute band for next year's Queen Extravaganza tour is only in its fourth day, but they may have already found their Freddie Mercury. Drummer Roger Taylor tells us he got a call yesterday telling him about a singer in his early 20s who's "just brilliant... That's very exciting."
Taylor, who came up with the idea, thinks they'll need six musicians. "We're not looking for look-alikes...but they have to be good... The band will be star of the show."
Auditions are open for vocalists, guitarists, drummers, bass players and keyboardists. Log onto QueenExtravaganza.com for details. The final audition will be held in Los Angeles in early December. --Sal Cirrincione ==========================

Whitesnake opens for Judas Priest tomorrow in Bogota, Colombia.
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason was at the Goodwood Revival (automobile) Festival in Sussex, England earlier this week where his Ferrari 250 GTO came in second in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, a one-hour, two-driver race for closed cockpit GT cars in the spirit of the RAC TT races from 1960 to 1964.

I thought this was a very interesting article on the celebs who are most dangerous to search. Meaning most likely to get you to sites with viruses, malware, spam, etc. Very surprised Scarlett Johansson wasn't higher on the list. Even more surprised Piers Morgan and Cameron Diaz were on it at all!
Neil Young will guide fans through his long, strange journey next fall with the release of his long-awaited memoir, which is tentatively titled Waging Heavy Peace. Young has been working on the book for several years, which is no surprise to those who've followed the slow progress of releases from his music archives. His working on the book is why Buffalo Springfield postponed their tour for early 2012.
David Rosenthal of publisher Blue Penguin Press tells the New York Times that Young "felt that this was a really propitious moment to try and put some stuff down on paper. The intention is to cover pretty much everything -- growing up, music, life. I am astounded at his memory for detail." --Deb Sprague ==========================

No need to wait until October 11th for the publication of Ozzy Osbourne's next book, Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rock's Ultimate Survivor. He's already doling out advice on Twitter.
If you're an alcoholic he suggests you "get in touch with AA. All my old mates who I used to go out drinking with are all dead -- all of them -- so don't waste any time."
On relationships: "Guy who's worried about marriage -- sounds like you're very insecure. Don't project it onto the future. What happens happens." And another: "Live one day at a time. Tell your wife you love her every day. Make her breakfast. All relationships change, enjoy the moments."
On ear protection: "I don't need ear protection on stage 'cause my ears got blown out a long time ago. If I got out to dinner these days I wear a hearing aid, but it gives me a headache if I keep it in too long. Occupational hazard."
On dieting: "You can get ready made low calorie meals sent to you in L.A. now. I tried them and they work -- if you stick to the plan, which I didn't."
Staying in shape: "I'm 62 now and I have to live in the gym to stay in shape. It gets harder and harder. I have to earn my food now."
And on foot odor: "I feel your pain. My feet smell so bad in wellies, it carries for miles. Try open-toed slippers with no socks."
The new book is his follow-up to his 2010 best selling memoir, I Am Ozzy. This one is based on his ongoing Rolling Stone and Sunday Times columns and will include some survival stories not found in last year's book, his answers to celebrities' medical questions, and a bunch of charts and sidebars. --Sal Cirrincione ==========================
Nirvana's Nevermind came out 20 years ago this week, but it might've hit stores a lot earlier had producer Butch Vig not been wrapped up with some other little-known band back then. Drummer Dave Grohl tells Entertainment Weekly, "We got the call saying Butch was ready to start in March, but we kept getting pushed back and we were like, 'Who the [hell] is he recording? He said Smashing Pumpkins. None of us had ever heard them, and we were like, 'That's the dumbest [bleeping] band name!'" --Deb Sprague

Slash will start recording his next album at the end of October. He says, "We've been in pre-production. We're about nine songs in... We'll go in and do another 12 songs." Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy will sing all the songs, which Slash says will help the album sound "very hard... It's got sort of a more unified sound to it, especially with one vocal all throughout." His last album was released last year.
Slash was in Epsom, England on Thursday to help open the new Guitar Guitar store. He's now home in Los Angeles.
On November 15th, Slash will release a two-CD, one-DVD live collection called Made in Stoke 24/7/11, recorded this past July in Stoke-on-Trent, the English town where he was raised. --Sal Cirrincione ==========================

Cooper starts a tour Down Under Thursday in Auckland, New Zealand followed by Asia and Europe. He'll be back in North America from late November through mid-December. --Sal Cirrincione ========================== Judas Priest singer Rob Halford took a tumble during their show on Thursday in Brasilia, Brazil. As he does each night, he drove his Harley Davidson on stage for "Hell Bent for Leather," but when he came to a stop at the foot of the stage, he tipped over, falling on his left side. His leather cap came off, and a roadie had to help him back onto the Hog.
This wasn't Halford's first onstage motorcycle mishap. In 1990, he was knocked off the bike by a stage prop that was in the wrong place. It left him unconscious and broke his nose.
Robbie Robertson will sign copies of the limited-edition collector's set of his recent How to Become Clairvoyant album tonight at the Gagosian Art Gallery in New York City.

Yes, I'm on vacation... but fake movie trailers like this deserve some attention. Would you see this movie if it were made?
This... movie.. woud be... awesome! Maybe I spent too much time avoiding books as a kid. Waldo always seemed like a nice alternative to reading a book.
Check out this article about the new brethalyzer jacket. Each LED on the arm is in increments of .02, so if you make all four light up, call a cab! Could also be used as a beer goggle indicator, if you will.
I actually think it's a marketable product, no matter how ridiculous it looks.
Comedian Ron White spent 17 years working on his craft before it caught on. Thanks to the Redneck Comedy Tour's success outside of theaters, Ron is now a household name not only in the comedy world but else -- appearing in movies and television over the past several years.

Author Marc Spitz put the moves to the pen and wrote his latest book about Mick. He looks at the candid and always rebel of the rock world as he fronts the greatest rock and roll band in the world. Go ahead, debate it.
I talked to Mark about the moves on stage and off, if his legacy will remember him as greater performer or an artist, his beard and other appearances:
On September 11th, 2011, Russell Jordan worked on the 68th floor of Tower One of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He evacuated minutes after the plane hit the building, escaping with his life.

We talked about what it was like 10 years ago, that atmosphere then and now, families and the people he interviewed in the book:
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (and future Broadcasting Hall of Famer) Alice Cooper joined me to talk about his upcoming album - Welcome 2 My Nightmare.
The long-awaited sequel from 1975 is out next Tuesday (September 13th) and goes in many different directions. Much like you would expect from a nightmare, there's humor, bizarre ideas, visits from the a pop star devil and wicket thoughts.
We talked about the album coming out, hitting the road, some club dates, Lady Gaga, and what he was doing on September 11th, 2001

Comedian Joe DeRosa is funny. In fact, he's very funny.
His new album was just released this week and in a way expands on his previous albums and explores more topics that makes his life even more depressing.
We talked to Joe about the new release, his worst experience on stage, high school guidance, foods and such and even Twitter:

Wipeout might be my favorite summer show on television. I can put down a sleeve of ice pops and watch hours of the show with the same level of enjoyment from start to finish.
Jill Wagner is the co-host who gets down and dirty with the contestants first hand. She brings out the inner freak and gets to the root of their strategy and motivations for competing.
Wipeout debuts on TruTV this weekend with classic episodes from season 1 -- and I talked to Jill about some of my favorite elements of the show:
The National Geographic Channel has a really fascinating show called Border Wars. It kicks off season 3 Sunday night at 9PM with back-to-back episodes. I was lucky enough to get a sneak-peak at this weekends show and it was really neat.
Nick Stein produces the show, but on Sunday he acts as the host too. Ever wonder what 30 lanes of traffic looks like trying to get into the USA? How about secret underground tunnels between the US and Mexico?
They even crush cars, shred vehicles and weapons and burn narcotics. What more could you ask? I talked to Nick about all of that:
Starting on Saturday it's a House of Hair Labor Day Weekend! It's presented locally by our friends at Phoenix Auto Wrecking in Lima... and here's a quick mullet clip of what you'll get:
Diabetes affects about 23.6 million Americans. This is 7.8% of the population with 1.6 million new cases diagnosed each year for people over age 20 years. If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you may know that the disease can cause problems with your eyes, nerves, kidneys, heart and other parts of your body. Diabetes can lower your resistance to infection and can slow the healing process. The most common oral health problems associated with diabetes are:
If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older.
Even if you wear full dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque.

Prevention
Begin cleaning the baby's mouth during the first few days after birth. After every feeding, wipe the baby's gums with a clean gauze pad. This removes plaque (a sticky film of bacteria) and residual food that can harm erupting teeth.
As soon as teeth appear in the mouth, tooth decay can occur. Therefore, when your child's teeth begin to erupt, brush them gently with a child's size toothbrush and water. Brush the teeth of children over age two with a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. Be sure they spit out the toothpaste and rinse with water.
Smoking cigarettes is one of the greatest contributors to the aging mouth. According to the Center for Disease Control, more than 22 million women in the United States smoke cigarettes. In addition to staining teeth, smoking interrupts calcium absorption in the body and can also cause potentially life-threatening diseases such as oral cancer. So stop smoking and enjoy the health benefits as well as a health, beautiful smile.
bad breath by Whole Health,posted Aug 9 2011 9:23AM
Bad Breath
About 85% of people with persistent bad breath have a dental condition that is to blame. If bad breath is the cause of a dental condition, mouthwash will only mask the odor and not cure it. Don’t be embarrassed to talk to your dentist, they are there to help you. Flossing daily and brushing your teeth & tongue twice a day can greatly reduce and possibly eliminate bad breath.
Gum disease is one of the main causes of tooth loss in adults and has also been linked to heart disease and strokes. If diagnosed in the early stage, gingivitis can be treated and reversed.
